Our Spring Congregational Meeting is coming up this Sunday, April 18, at 10:30 AM in the Salem Fellowship Hall. After the congregational meeting, we will have a potluck meal and you are invited to bring a covered dish to share. Come and join us as we make decisions as a congregation about the future and direction of our church!
If you’re thinking, “What is a congregational meeting, exactly?”, don’t worry! A congregational meeting is a time when the whole congregation gets together with the specific business of governing the church. In our church, the group that makes the big decisions is the congregation, instead of a single group of members or a single clergy member. Each member of Salem has a vote on the issues of the day. These congregational meetings are usually used as an opportunity to present and approve things such as the yearly budget, constitutional changes, large purchases by the church, and other matters that involve the whole congregation. Being involved in the congregational meetings is an important part of being a Salem member, and a meaningful way to participate directly in the work of the church. If you’re looking for a place where your voice can truly be heard and valued, this is for you!
